240 Dunford Road, Holmfirth, HD9 2SJ.
Built in the 1840s as a mill owner’s residence, Ash House overlooks fields and countryside a mere 10 minutes’ walk from the shops and cafes of Holmfirth. It was a part of the Sandford family for more than 140 years but fell into disrepair in the 1990s. Luckily, a family purchased and breathed new life into it, transforming it into its present day status as a bed and breakfast.
This stone-built, double-fronted building comes with a variety of accommodations perfect for all visitors. Full English breakfasts are cooked every morning made from ingredients straight from the Holmfirth butcher.
Breakfast also comes with free range eggs, butter and natural yoghurts purchased from local farms. It too features free Wi-Fi access in every room and a selection of quality classic cars, such as the Jaguar E-Type and two MGB Roadsters, available for rental.
The Suite is the largest and includes a king sized bed as well as an adjacent lounge room. Its lounge room has two leather sofas, a flat screen television, vintage toys and games, and an extensive library. There is also direct access to the garden path.
The Twin is a single bedroom with a flat screen mounted to the wall and an en-suite bathroom. The two beds can be pushed together should the guests so desire. Each room provides spectacular views of the surrounding garden and valley.
Ash House B&B is perfect for the travellers that want to be close to a small town without staying in it. During the summer months, visitors can walk to Holmfirth to partake in its many festivals, including a Brass Band Contest in April and the ever popular Festival of Food and Drink held in September.
You can also head out to tour the Pennine Yorkshire countryside or take a short drive to Derbyshire to visit the Peak District National Park.
