For fans of the famous and much loved British sitcom, Last Of The Summer Wine, which ran from 1973-2010, a stop at Compo’s Takeaway and Family Restaurant is a definite must.
The award winning restaurant is located on Burnlee Road, off Greenfield Road, in the picturesque town of Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, where Last Of The Summer Wine was filmed.
After taking a look around the pretty little town of Holmfirth and a trip to see the famous Norah Batty steps, where she would very often chase Compo away with her broom, Compo’s offer you the choice of a sit down or takeaway meal.
Whether you’re eating in or taking away, there’s something for everyone on the menu, from delicious fish and chips to a choice of pies, burgers, chicken nuggets and more. If you’re travelling with young ones and you’ve stopped for a takeaway meal, the children’s meals are served in a ‘kids box’, making it easier for them to eat on the go.
The generously sized meals are cooked fresh to order and the service is excellent, with warm, friendly and helpful staff. For those with a smaller appetite, you can request a smaller meal portion and they also have a great value Pensioner Special Menu, which includes fish and chips or other choice of main meal, a pot of tea and a dessert.
There’s also a children’s menu and a good choice of desserts, that’s if you’ve any room left for one!
This traditional fish and chip restaurant can seat up to 80 people and is a spacious family friendly restaurant, with a nice relaxed atmosphere. It’s open 7 days a week, only closing for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. There’s a large customer car park and the building is suitable for wheelchair access and also has a disabled toilet.
