28 Huddersfield Road , Holmfirth, HD9 2JS.
A self-catering cottage held up to only the highest of standards as seen in Last of the Summer Wine, Nora Batty’s Cottage is the place to stay for any and all fans of the series. One of the most familiar and beloved locations in TV comedy, it is decorated as only Nora would allow and filled with memorabilia and signed cast photographs. Though Nora is no longer with us, her memory lives on through this experience (wrinkled stockings not included).
The cottage itself is stone and a total of three floors. To access it, a flight of deep steps lead up to the front door. Inside, there is one large bedroom that sleeps two, a family bedroom that sleeps four, a living room, kitchen, dining room, large bathroom and private garden area. If there are younger children present, a cot and high chair can be requested. Its patio is perfect for relaxing amidst the bustle of city and is located a mere stone’s throw from the River Holme. While pets and smoking are not allowed, guests are treated to ample storage and wardrobe facilities as well as fresh linens and towels. Drivers will find off road parking nearby though temporary parking outside the cottage is allowed for unloading.
Nora Batty’s Cottage also happens to be conveniently well placed at the centre of Holmfirth. Guests have easy access to walk the town and tour the various shops and eateries along the river. Nearby is Sid’s Café and Market Hall while those that have never visited the Pennine Yorkshire area will be happy to know the Tourist Information Centre is just a short walk away walk away.
